Robinson José Canó plays second base for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball. Canó, a Dominican Republic native, signed as an amateur free agent with the New York Yankees in 2001.

From 2005 to 2013, he was a member of the New York Yankees, winning a World Series title in 2009. Canó signed a 10-year, $240 million dollar contract with the Seattle Mariners in December 2013.

From 2014 to 2018, he was with the Mariners before being traded to the Mets. Cano had the most hits of any major league player in the 2010s, with 1,695 hits.

He is an eight-time All-Star, five-time Silver Slugger Award winner and two-time Gold Glove Award winner in Major League Baseball. Cano also won the 2011 Home Run Derby and was the MVP of the 2017 All-Star Game.

On several instances, Canó has tested positive for performance-enhancing substances.

Canó was suspended from Major League Baseball for 80 games in 2018 after taking furosemide in violation of the league’s joint drug agreement.

Canó was suspended for the whole 2021 season on November 18, 2020, after testing positive for stanozolol.

Canó has made international appearances for the Dominican Republic. He won both a gold medal and the Most Valuable Player Award at the 2013 World Baseball Classic (WBC) competition (MVP).

Canó joined Octavio Dotel and Santiago Casilla as the only players to win both a World Series and a World Baseball Classic.
