Nico Hoerner Parents: Meet Nico Hoerner Father, Fred Hoerner

Nico Hoerner, real name Nicholas Mackie Hoerner is a professional baseball player who serves as a shortstop and plays for the Chicago Cubs baseball team.



Nico was born May 13, 1997, in Oakland, California in the United States of America. He grew up there and had his amateur baseball career playing for the baseball team of Head-Royce High School.

Undrafted by any team after high school, he decided to play college baseball when he gained admission to Stanford University. He played for the Stanford Cardinals and he was named to the All-Pac-12 team during his junior year in college



He was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 24th overall pick of the 2018 MLB draft. He signed with the Cubs for a $2.72 million signing bonus. The Cubs assigned him to the Arizona League Cubs of the minor league to begin his professional career.

In September 2019, the Cubs selected his contract and promoted him to the major leagues on September 9, 2019.  He made his MLB debut that same night.
