Matthew James Chapman is an American professional baseball third baseman who currently plays for the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball.
He was born on April 28, 1993. (MLB). Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Oakland Athletics. In 2017, Chapman made his Major League Baseball debut with the Oakland Athletics. Before the 2022 baseball season,
he was included in a trade to the Toronto Blue Jays. He has been honoured with two Fielding Bible Awards, three Gold Glove Awards, and two Platinum Glove Awards throughout his career.
In addition, he was named an All-Star in 2019 and was the recipient of the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2018.
Nolan Arenado, a current third baseman for the Colorado Rockies, was his teammate at El Toro High School. Chapman lived in California during the off-season with Philadelphia Phillies catcher Garrett Stubbs,
with whom he shares a room. In December 2021, Chapman and Taylor, who later became his wife, tied the knot in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Chapman is known for his outstanding range, arm strength, and arm accuracy, which have earned him the reputation of being a great defender.
Because of his strong arm, he is able to field a hard-hit ball that is moving toward the right side of the field from a deeper position.
For his forehand, he gathers the ball with both hands, and for his backhand, he only uses one hand while maintaining a defensive crouch similar to that used in basketball.
