Brendan played baseball non professionally when he attended Enterprise High School in Enterprise, Alabama. He also played college baseball at the University of South Alabama. He was drafted in college in 2018 by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 7th round of the 2018 MLB draft.

He signed with them and made his professional debut that year playing for the State College Spikes of the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League. During the 2019 minor league season, he was assigned to the Peoria Chiefs of the Class A Midwest League and played a game for the Memphis Redbirds of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League.

The 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cardinals added him to their 40-man roster in November 2021. He was called up to the major leagues in April 2022  where he made his MLB debut that day when the Cardinals played in a game against the New York Mets.
