Dustin was born in Justin, Texas in the United States of America. He was born on September 6, 1997. He grew up in Justin and schooled there. He started his baseball career at the Northwest High School located in Justin.
Dustin’s professional career began when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers team in the third round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Due to this, he refused to attend college and rather signed with the Dodgers for a $1 million signing bonus.
After signing with the Dodgers, he was assigned to play for the Arizona League Dodgers minor league team. He made his professional debut playing for them. He spent the whole of the 2016 baseball season with them. For the 2017 baseball season, he divided the season into two and played for both the Great Lakes Loons and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
Dustin was selected to play in the mid-season Texas League All-Star Game and the All-Star Futures Game in 2019. He was later on promoted to play with the AAA Oklahoma City Dodgers.
Dustin got called into the major leagues by the Dodgers on August 2 that year. The Dodgers played against the San Diego Padres team that day and Dustin made his MLB debut during that game.
