Darren O’Day, full name Darren Christopher O’Day is one of the professional baseball players who pitches for the Atlanta Braves baseball team of the Major League Baseball. Darren earns an annual salary of $1 million from the Braves.
Darren was born in Jacksonville, Florida in the United States of America to Ralph O’Day and Michal O’Day. He was a student at Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville and is known to have played high school baseball for the Bishop Kenny Crusaders. He earned an athletic scholarship from the University of Florida after high school which he accepted.
He played for the Florida Gators baseball team from 2003 to 2006 where he earned Southeastern Conference (SEC) Academic Honor Roll recognition four times and was also an Academic All-American during his senior year. In 2006, he signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as a free agent when he was not drafted out of college.
The Angels promoted him to the majors in 2008 where he made his MLB debut. Darren was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers in April 2009 and in November 2011, he was claimed off waivers again by the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles signed a four-year contract four years of $31 million with Darren in 2014.
When the contract became invalid, he was traded to the Atlanta Braves in 2018. He was with the Braves till 2021 when the New York Yankees signed a one-year of $1.75 million with him in February. Before the 2021 baseball season ended, Darren returned to the Braves and signed a minor league contract with them.
