Juan David Yepez plays first base for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB).

In July 2014, Yepez signed with the Atlanta Braves as an international free agent.

He made his professional debut with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Braves the following year before being promoted to the Rookie-level Appalachian League’s Danville Braves in August.

He batted .299 with four home runs and 31 RBIs in 59 games for both teams.

He was assigned to the Rome Braves of the Class A South Atlantic League in 2016, but due to injuries, he only appeared in 23 games. For the 2017 season, he returned to Rome.

Yepez was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals for Matt Adams on May 20, 2017. He was assigned to the Class A Midwest League’s Peoria Chiefs, with whom he finished the season.

Between the two clubs, he hit .265/.308/.388 with eight home runs and 62 RBIs in 116 games.

He was assigned to Peoria to start the 2018 season before being promoted to the Palm Beach Cardinals of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League in early May.

He hit .269 in 92 games, with three home runs and 42 RBIs. Yepez batted.269 with ten home runs and 43 RBIs for the Class AA Texas League’s Peoria, Palm Beach, and Springfield Cardinals in 2019.

He was sent to Springfield to start the 2021 season, and after 19 games, he was promoted to the Triple-A East’s Memphis Redbirds. Yepez hit .286/.383/.586 in 111 games between the two teams, with 27 home runs, 77 RBIs, and 29 doubles.

He and Jordan Walker were selected Minor League Co-Players of the Year by the Cardinals. After being named to the Fall Stars Game, he was selected to play in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) with the Glendale Desert Dogs.

He hit .302/.388/.640 in the AFL, with 15 extra-base hits, and was awarded Hitter of the Year alongside J. J. Bleday.

The Cardinals picked Yepez’s contract and added him to the 26-man roster for the 2021 National League Wild Card Game on October 6, 2021, however, he did not appear. He is set to return to Memphis for the 2022 season.
