Jansen discovered he had vision impairments before the start of the 2017 season and began wearing glasses on and off the field.

Jansen hit .369 with five home runs and 18 RBI in 31 games for Dunedin before getting promoted to the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, thanks to the glasses.

Before getting promoted to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons in August, he appeared in 52 games for New Hampshire and hit .291 in those games.

In 21 games with Buffalo, Jansen hit.328 with three home runs and ten RBI. Jansen was added to Toronto’s 40-man roster on November 20, 2017.

MLB ranked Jansen as the eighth-best catcher prospect heading into the 2018 season. In July, he participated in the All-Star Futures Game, where he hit a home run.

On August 12, 2018, the Blue Jays promoted Jansen to the major leagues. The following night, he made his major league debut, hitting two singles in a 3–1 loss to the Kansas City Royals.

Since Billy Rohr and Russ Gibson debuted in the same American League game in April 1967, he and Sean Reid-Foley were the first batterymates to do it.

On August 14, against Royals pitcher Heath Fillmyer, Jansen hit his first major league home run, breaking a 3–3 tie in a game the Blue Jays would go on to win 6–5. In 31 games, he hit.247 and had a.247 batting average.

 

Jansen has a batting average of the 2020 Blue Jays.

 

In 43 games, he hit 182 with six home runs and 20 RBIs.
