James Outman Parents: Meet Matthew and Maureen Outman

James Outman Parents

Outman hit just .249 in three seasons at Sacramento State, but he showed the Dodgers that he had four tools that could improve.

He hit 11 home runs in the final month of his first full pro season, then starred in instructional league last year, his lone option for improvement during the coronavirus outbreak.

In 2021, he bounced back from a sluggish start in High-A to gain a promotion to Double-A halfway through the season.

Outman has plenty of strength and raw power in his 6-foot-3 body, but he’ll need to show he can make enough contact to get the most out of it.

His left-handed stroke has improved since he moved to Los Angeles, but he still has an aggressive attitude to draw and lift pitches.

While he’ll never hit for high averages, he does demonstrate a willingness to take walks when pitchers neglect to challenge him.

Outman is a strong runner who can steal bases and has 20-20 potential. He spent much of his pro career in center field after playing right field in college and is a good defender there.

With his agility and one of the system’s stronger arms, he can play all three outfield positions.
