Bruce Anthony Zimmermann is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Baltimore Orioles (MLB).

Zimmermann earned his bachelor’s degree from Loyola Blakefield in 2013.

He enrolled at Towson University to play collegiate baseball after being undrafted out of high school in the 2013 Major League Baseball draft.

He transferred to the University of Mount Olive following his second year. He was 9–2 with a 3.18 ERA in 15 starts as a senior at Mount Olive, striking out 129 batters in 99 innings.

Zimmermann was drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves after his senior year.

He signed up for $10,000 and was assigned to the Danville Braves, where he went 0–1 in 11 starts with a 3.09 ERA.

He spent the first half of 2018 with the Rome Braves, where he was named a South Atlantic League All-Star, before being promoted to the Mississippi Braves in June.

Zimmermann was traded to the Baltimore Orioles on July 31, 2018, in exchange for Kevin Gausman and Darren O’Day.

He was assigned to the Bowie Baysox, where he spent the rest of the season. Between Rome, Mississippi, and Bowie, he was 11–7 with a 3.21 ERA in 25 starts.

Due to his recovery from COVID-19, his admission to the Orioles’ 60-player Alternate Training Site pool has been postponed until August 2020.

Zimmermann’s first season in 2020 saw him pitch seven innings and give up six earned runs.
