Alex Wood, full name Robert Alexander Wood happens to be one of the professional baseball pitchers who plays for the San Francisco Giants baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB). He is 1.93m tall and wears the number 57 jersey for the team.



In 2012, the Atlanta Braves drafted him in the second round of the 2012 MLB draft. He signed with them and made his professional debut for the Rome Braves of the Class A South Atlantic League. The following year, the Braves called him up to the major leagues on May 30 and he made his MLB debut that night playing against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Braves traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 30, 2015. Three years after playing for the Dodgers, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in December 2018. Alex returned to play for the Dodgers in January 2020 after he signed a one-year contract worth $4 million with them.



Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that happened in 2020, games did not begin until late July when the Dodgers made Alex make a start on July 25 against the San Francisco Giants.

The San Francisco Giants signed a one-year contract of $3 million with Alex in January 2021. The contract was resigned in December that same year and extended for two years. This new contract was worth $25 million.
