Kirby Yates, full name Kirby Kali Yates is a professional baseball player from America currently with the Atlanta Braves baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB). He plays as a pitcher for the team and has a height of 1.78m.



Kirby played high school baseball at Kauai High School in Lihue, Hawaii and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 26th round of the 2005 MLB draft. He did not sign with the Red Sox as he wanted to play college baseball and earn a degree so he enrolled at Yavapai College where he played college baseball for the school.

After he graduated, the Tampa Bay Rays signed him in 2009 and later added him to their 40-man roster in November 2013. He made his MLB debut for the Rays after they called him up to the majors for the first time in June 2014. The Rays traded him to the Cleveland Indians in November 2015.

The Indians also traded him to the New York Yankees in January 2016 and the Yankees added him to their Opening Day roster that year. Before the 2017 season began, the Los Angeles Angels purchased the rest of his contract from the Yankees and in April 2017, the San Diego Padres claimed him off waivers.

The Toronto Blue Jays signed a one-year contract with him at the beginning of the 2021 season. The contract was worth $5.5 million. When the contract expired, the Atlanta Braves signed him on a two-year contract worth $8.25 million.
