Rowan Wick plays professional baseball as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs baseball team. He has been with Cubs since November 2018 after he was traded to them by the San Diego Padres.
Rowan was born November 9, 1992, in North Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. He started playing baseball at Carson Graham Secondary School after which he played college baseball at St. John’s University and later at Cypress College where he played for the La Crosse Loggers of the summer collegiate Northwoods League.
During the 2012 MLB draft, Rowan was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the ninth round of the 2012 MLB draft. He signed with the Cardinals and was assigned to play with the Gulf Coast Cardinals to begin his professional career.
For the 2013 minor league season, he was with the Johnson City Cardinals where he played as both a catcher and a right fielder. The following season, Rowan played as an outfielder where he played with the State College Spikes and Peoria Chiefs.
In February 2018, Rowan was claimed off waivers by the San Diego Padres. His contract was purchased in November that same year by the Chicago Cubs baseball team.
