Daniel Claiborne Hudson is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hudson was selected in the fifth round of the 2008 MLB draft by the Chicago White Sox.



Besides the White Sox, where he made his Major League Baseball debut in 2009, he has also played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Pittsburgh Pirates, Toronto Blue Jays, Washington Nationals, and San Diego Padres, among other teams.

Hudson recorded the save in Game 7 of the 2019 World Series, allowing the Nationals to claim their first championship in the franchise’s long history.



Hudson was a member of the Princess Anne High School baseball team in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and the Old Dominion University baseball team in Norfolk, Virginia, where he represented the Old Dominion Monarchs in college baseball.

Hudson was a member of Princess Anne Cavaliers, who won the state championship in 2005 during his time there.

In 2007, he was a member of the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he played collegiate summer baseball.

After completing his collegiate career, Hudson finished second all-time in strikeouts with 295 (Justin Verlander is first all-time), sixth in games started with 40, and seventh in innings pitched with 292.

Hudson also finished his collegiate career second all-time in innings pitched with 292, behind only Justin Verlander. The left-hander finished with a 20–14 overall record and a 3.79 earned run average (ERA).
