Trey Mancini’s MLB Career

On September 18, 2016, during September call-ups, the Orioles promoted Mancini to the big leagues.

On September 20, he hit a home run against Eduardo Rodrguez in his major league debut as a designated hitter against the Boston Red Sox.

His parents were present to witness his first Major League Baseball home run.

Following Larry Haney (1966), Nick Markakis (2006), and Jonathan Schoop (2006), Mancini became the fourth Orioles player to hit a home run for their first Major League hit (2013).

Two nights later, Mancini returned to the mound and smashed his second career home run, a three-run shot off David Price.

In his first two starts, he became the 20th player in MLB history to hit a home run.

After hitting a solo home run against the Arizona Diamondbacks on September 24, he became the third player in major league history to homer in his first three starts.

After moving to the outfield, Mancini made the Orioles’ Opening Day roster in 2017.

A four-RBI performance on April 16 marked Mancini’s second game with two or more home runs and multiple RBIs this season.

Trevor Story and Dino Restelli both had seven home runs in their first 12 games as a professional.

His eighth career home run came on April 22, his fifth of the season and the first time he has hit more than five in a season.

For the first 17 games of his career, he tied Carlos Delgado and John Story for the most home runs by a rookie.
