Josh Winder Contract, Salary and Net Worth

As a right-hander with good pitchability who was selected in the seventh round in 2018 out of Virginia Military Institute, Winder made a name for himself by dominating lower-level batters with his exceptional feel for the strike zone.

Since then, his stuff has continued to advance, and in 2021, he pitched his way from Double-A to Triple-A and participated in the Futures Game, demonstrating that the physical gains he achieved during the downtime were real.

The only thing that marred the standout performance was a shoulder strain that halted his season in late July, but he was nonetheless added to the Twins’ 40-man roster and given a clean stamp of health.

Since signing, the 6-foot-5 Winder’s velocity has increased; it was in the low-90s during his first full season in 2019 and averaged 95 mph (touching 98 mph) last season, keeping the burst he had displayed in instructional league play following the shutdown.

He has a terrific feel for his changeup, an offspeed pitch that doesn’t have much speed differential but has excellent depth and had a swing-and-miss rate of 53% last season.

His mid-80s slider flashes plus, and he has a very strong feel for it. Additionally, he incorporates a typical curve.

With just 1.6 walks per nine last year, Winder’s improved stuff did not come at the expense of his command. The condition of his shoulder is the main concern.
