Thomas Ryan Pressly, an American pitcher with the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball, was born on December 15, 1988. He has also represented the Minnesota Twins in MLB.

For his first three years of high school, Pressly attended American Heritage Academy in Carrollton, Texas. For the school’s baseball team, he was a standout pitcher and shortstop, topping the league in 23 different offensive categories.

The Minnesota Twins selected Pressly in the 2012 Rule 5 draft after the Boston Red Sox had originally taken him in the 11th round of the 2007 MLB Draft. Pressly made his MLB debut with the Twins in 2013.

In 2018, the Twins traded Pressly to Houston. He made 40 straight scoreless outings in 2019, breaking the big league record and in 2019 and 2021, he was an MLB All-Star.

On April 4, he pitched a scoreless inning in his major league debut, striking out Torii Hunter. Pressly pitched for 76+2/3 innings while making 49 appearances, going 3–3 with a 3.87 ERA and 49 strikeouts.

On July 27, 2018, the Twins traded Pressly to the Houston Astros in exchange for minor leaguers Jorge Alcalá and Gilberto Celestino. Pressly pitched for the Astros in 26 regular-season games, recording a 0.77 ERA and walking just three batters.

On April 5, 2022, Pressly and the Astros reached an agreement on terms for a new, two-year contract extension. It had a guaranteed $30 million for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, with an additional option for 2025.
