What Team Does Tim mayza Play For?

Tim Mayza

Tim Mayza has spent the previous two seasons alternating between Toronto and Buffalo. And because he still has alternatives, he could fluctuate this year. Mayza appears to be the top left out of the pen now that Loup is gone.

Tim pitched for the Blue Jays last season, allowing 33 hits, three home runs, 13 walks, and 40 strikeouts in 35.2 innings.

He also fared better against LHB (.233/.258/.317) than RHP (.253/.371/.413).

He has the potential to be a good LOOGY (unless Manfred gets his way and prohibits pitchers from facing only one batter), but he throws hard enough that he should be able to get some right-handed batters out as well.

He is a powerful thrower. He threw his fastball at 94.3 mph and his slider at 86.5 mph, according to FanGraphs. That’s all he throws, and they’re practically evenly split.

According to ZiPS, he’ll appear in 54 games and post a 4.21 ERA.

Maybe it’s because he’s so excellent for me in OOTP Baseball, but I’ve always had a soft spot for Tim.

Tim was drafted in the 12th round of the 2013 draft. He is one of only two players from that round to reach the majors.

The Mets’ Jeff McNeil is the other. Last season, McNeil appeared in 63 games and hit.329/.381/.471, earning him some Rookie of the Year honors.
