Pete Alonso, real name Peter Morgan Alonso plays baseball professionally as a first baseman for the New York Mets baseball team. He was born and raised in Tampa, Florida in the USA where he had his amateur high school career.



After his high school career, he got into the University of Florida, where he played for the Florida Gators. Pete played collegiate summer baseball with the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League in 2014.

During the 2015 summer, he played for the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League. When he completed the university, the New York Mets drafted him in the 2nd round of the 2016 MLB draft. He signed with the Mets and received $909,200 as a signing bonus.

He made his professional debut that year with the Brooklyn Cyclones of the Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League. During the 2017 minor league season, he played for the St. Lucie Mets of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League.

Before the 2018 season began, MLB.com ranked him as New York’s fourth-best prospect. He was promoted to the major leagues in 2019 and he made his MLB debut on March 28, 2019, for the Mets. Pete signed a $7.4 million contract with the Mets to avoid salary arbitration in March 2022.
