Where was Kody Russey born?

Russey had to enter the NFL through free agency because he did not hear his name called at the 2022 draft. He did not have to look long for a place to call home; the Patriots drafted him soon after the seventh round was through.

Russey has since taken part in organized team activities, the rookie development program, minicamp, and the first week of training camp. He will participate in his first NFL preseason game.

Russey played for Louisiana Tech for five seasons and Houston as a super senior for one more before going pro. His college career saw him play in 63 games overall, including 60 as a starter after he redshirted as a freshman in 2016.



Russey was one of Conference USA’s top centers before transferring to the Cougars in 2021. He was selected to the league’s first all-conference team in 2020 and additionally made the all-star team three times as an honorable mention.

After five fruitful years at Louisiana Tech, Russey made the decision to leave the Bulldogs and enter the transfer portal. He ultimately ended up at Houston, where he teamed up with Marcus Jones, a future third-round pick by the Patriots.

Russey was able to acquire the Cougars’ starting center position despite having little system experience, and he ultimately became a significant contributor to an attack that finished No. 15 in the country in scoring.
