Jason Kubler is an Australian professional tennis player. Despite a promising junior career, including reaching the junior world No. 1 ranking and being compared to Rafael Nadal, Kubler has spent the majority of his professional career on the lower circuits due to a hereditary knee condition that results in weakened meniscus around the joints.
It was in September 2008 that Kubler made his professional tennis debut in the Australia F7 Futures event on the ITF Men’s Circuit, the third tier of men’s professional tennis.
Marinko Matosevic defeated Kubler in the first round of the main draw qualifying tournament, however he was unable to go into the second round.
Kubler was granted wildcards to the Brisbane International and Sydney International qualifying draws in 2010 after strong success on the junior circuit, however, he failed to win a match at either event.
After that, he was given a wildcard to the 2010 Australian Open, where he made his ATP Tour and Grand Slam debuts. Kubler was beaten 6–2 6–1 6–1 by 24th seed Ivan Ljubii after a lackluster performance.
Kubler made his professional debut in April at the Australia F3 Futures event in Ipswich, where he advanced to the final, where he lost to Brydan Klein in a sudden death match.
At Netherlands F2, Italy F23, Portugal F5, and Spain F37 Futures, Kubler had a series of semi-final appearances in the remainder of 2010. He was ranked 535th in the world at the end of the season.
