Danielle Collins is an American professional tennis player. She reached career-high WTA rankings of No. 8 in singles and world No. 86 in doubles.
During her time at the University of Virginia, Collins was recognized as the greatest female tennis player in the country and was awarded the collegiate national title in 2014 and 2016. She also won the Honda Sports Award in 2016.
Collins participated on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s Circuit for the first time in 2009. 2011 was the year that she took home her first ITF singles title.
During the years 2013 and 2015, when she was competing for Virginia in collegiate tennis, she did not take part in any professional matches.
Collins received a wildcard to play in the main draw of a WTA Tour event for the first time at the 2014 US Open. She played her maiden match there against Simona Halep, the second seed, and took the match to three sets.
In the middle of 2016, she made the transition into a full-time professional. She competed on the ITF Circuit and won four singles titles during her tenure there.
