Are the Houston Oilers still a team?

The Houston Oilers no longer exist as a sports franchise. In 2002, a new franchise in the National Football League (NFL) was founded in Houston, Texas, and given the name Houston Texans by the league.

Since the team’s inception in 1960, Houston has been home to a professional American football franchise known as the Houston Oilers, which operated until 1996.

Before becoming a member of the NFL in the late 1960s as a result of the merger between the AFL and the NFL, the team competed in and won two American Football League titles.

Following the merger, the club relocated to Memphis and then to Nashville, where it eventually became known as the Tennessee Titans.

From 1960 to 1965, the colour of the helmet was Columbia blue with a white derrick. From 1966 to 1971, the colour of the helmet was silver with a Columbia blue derrick, and from 1972 to 1974,

the colour of the helmet was scarlet with a scarlet derrick. In 1999, the name of the team retired so that a future franchise headquartered in Houston would not be able to use the same name.

In 2002, the National Football League (NFL) established a new club in Houston, Texas, and named it the Houston Texans.
