Dawson Knox, a tight end at Ole Miss, was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. With this selection, the Bills added a field-stretching tight end to their roster. As part of the deal to acquire Knox, Buffalo sent picks 112 and 131 to Washington in exchange for the 96th overall selection.
Knox was a 6-foot-4, 208-pound dual-threat quarterback for Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee, during his high school career. After graduating from Brentwood Academy, Knox went on to play college football for Ole Miss.
Knox was recruited by Air Force, Austin Peay, and Cornell to play quarterback, but he ultimately chose to focus his talents on becoming an extremely athletic tight end instead of pursuing a career in that field.
Although Knox still had a year left in which he might have participated in his senior season, he made the decision to enter the NFL draught instead. Even though he never scored a touchdown during his time at college, Knox made the decision to still join the draft.
During his final year of high school, Knox suffered an ankle injury and went on to Ole Miss as a prospect for the tight end position. He did not participate in the 2015 season and used that time to bulk up, eventually reaching his current playing weight of 258 pounds and a height of 6 feet 4 inches.
During the previous season, he demonstrated his value to the squad by recording 15 receptions for 284 yards and a staggering 18.9 yards per grab average.
How Fast Is Dawson Knox?
In high school, Dawson Knox ran the 40-yard dash in 4.85 seconds, which was the only time that could be proven. He ran a 4.57 at his pro day for Ole Miss, according to reports.
