Tanner Owen, who stands at 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 292 pounds, was picked up by the Buffalo Bills in 2022 as an undrafted free agent after playing college football for Northwest Missouri State. He spent the preseason with the team.
The native of Kearney, Missouri began his collegiate career in 2016 at the University of Missouri, where he participated in four games.
He subsequently transferred to Northwest Missouri State, where he lettered for four seasons and started all 52 games he played in during his time there.
In 2021, he was selected as a consensus Division II All-American and was a key member of a Bearcat offense that finished the year ranked 13th in the country (457.5 ypg.)
During the 2021 season, Owen was a member of the Bearcat offense that averaged 457.5 yards per game, which placed No. 13 in the nation for total offense.
He was a major contributor to Harlon Hill Trophy finalist running back Al McKeller’s ability to dominate the rushing stats in the MIAA (1,601 yards)
Owen’s presence helped to keep pass rushers away from quarterback Mike Hohensee, who led the country in both passing completion percentage (73.6%) and passing efficiency rating (187.3 ratings), respectively.
Additionally, with his assistance, the Bearcat attack was able to produce six games with an offensive output of at least 500 yards, which was the most for Northwest since the 2013 campaign.
