James David Andrews is a center for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He attended Georgia and participated in college football. His uncle, Dan Reeves, played for the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, and Atlanta Falcons respectively in the National Football League.
Andrews was a two-way lineman during his time at Wesleyan School in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, where he received his education. Wesleyan earned the GHSA Class A state championship in 2008 during his sophomore year of competition.
His coaches credited him with more than a hundred knockdown blocks during his junior and senior seasons, during which time he also did not allow a quarterback to be sacked. Andrews was recognized as the best offensive lineman in Gwinnett County in 2010 and was selected to the first team of the offensive all-county squad by the Gwinnett Daily Post.
Andrews was listed as the No. 9 center prospect in the class of 2011, which was led by Reese Dismukes, and was rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com. Although Andrews had offers from Duke and Michigan, he waited for Georgia to make an offer since he had been a “lifelong die-hard Bulldogs fan” and accepted “practically on the spot” when he did in February 2010.
What happened to David Andrews?
Andrews’ 2019 season was put at risk when it was disclosed on August 26 that he had been diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. On August 31, 2019, he was placed on season-ending injured reserve. After missing all of 2019, Andrews rejoined the Patriots’ starting lineup in 2020.
