Harvey Langi is an American football linebacker for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Utah and BYU and has also been a member of the New York Jets.
After Langi went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots offered him a contract on April 30, 2017, that would pay him $1.68 million over the course of three years.
There is also a signing bonus of $15,000 included in the deal, in addition to a guaranteed sum of $100,000.
The amount of guaranteed money that Langi received is comparable to that of a fifth-round pick on par with the average amount that a sixth-round pick receives.
The Patriots were only able to acquire four draft picks, and Langi was a highly sought-after undrafted free agency who received 12 offers before the Patriots made their final decision to pay the amount they did.
Throughout the entirety of training camp, he contended for the starting middle linebacker position against David Harris, Elandon Roberts, and Trevor Bates. He was one of just four undrafted free agents who made it onto the 53-man roster after the final roster cuts were made.
To begin his first season with the Patriots, head coach Bill Belichick slotted Langi into the rotation as the team’s third middle linebacker on the depth chart, behind seasoned veterans Elandon Roberts and David Harris.
