According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Ravens and Patriots have reached an agreement to exchange the 2021 fifth-round pick for a 2022 seventh-round pick and a 2023 fifth-round pick.
Following a strong 2019 campaign at Ohio State, Wade was previously projected as a possible first-round pick, but he decided to stay in Columbus for another attempt at a national championship in 2020.
Wade struggled throughout the abbreviated season and lost the allure that had once made scouts anxious to take him in the following round, so his decision ended up costing him a lot of money.
Wade went from being a first-round prospect to the Ravens’ Day 3 pick, which at the time seemed like a wise choice because Wade wouldn’t be expected to play many snaps and could adjust to the NFL game while having plenty of time to develop.
Instead, it appears that time has been dramatically cut short as Baltimore looks to transfer Wade to another location in order to recoup its minimal investment.
Wade would be another example of how New England has taken players who didn’t fit with the clubs that picked them. Wade, who was once a great defender in coverage, struggled in his most recent college game, showing that he still needs to improve his technique and receive the right instruction if he wants to realize his potential, which was previously thought to be quite high.
The Patriots are prepared to attempt and assist Wade in developing into a valuable NFL corner, sensing an opportunity to seize.
Who did the Patriots trade for Shaun Wade?
Wade was traded to the New England Patriots on August 26, 2021, in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2022 and a fifth-round pick in 2023.
