Tyre Phillips is a professional football player with the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens as an offensive guard. At Grenada High School in Grenada, Mississippi, he participated in football during his freshman, sophomore, and junior years. He declined scholarship offers from FCS universities and instead to enroll at East Mississippi Community College in order to increase his prospects of subsequently signing with a Division I institution.
Before enrolling at Mississippi State in January 2017 to play collegiate football for the Bulldogs, he spent two seasons playing for the Lions at East Mississippi Community College. He made the decision to redshirt in his first year at Mississippi State. Then, in an offensive line rotation during his junior season, he alternated between playing both tackle positions. In the Bulldogs’ 13 games during his senior season, Phillips started each one.
Following the season, he played in the 2020 Senior Bowl. The Baltimore Ravens selected him in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. On November 3, 2020, he experienced ankle pain. On November 30, 2020, he will be activated after being placed on injured reserve. He suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field during the first half of the team’s season-opening game against the Las Vegas Raiders in September 2021. He was called in October 2021 off injured reserve. In December, he was added to the list.
