Another one of the Arizona Cardinals’ players has received an extension to their current contract. They extended the contracts of quarterback Kyler Murray, tackle D.J. Humphries, and safety Jalen Thompson after re-signing tight end Zach Ertz, linebacker Dennis Gardeck, and running back James Conner to three-year deals in free agency.
The most recent addition is linebacker Markus Golden, who is also the lone pass rusher with proven experience on the club.
Field Yates of ESPN reports that Golden has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with the team through 2023 and pay him up to $6.5 million.
Golden had entered the final year of his contract and was owed a salary of $2 million at that point.
Last season, he led the club with 11 sacks, marking the third time in his career that he had at least 10 sacks.
This new agreement will keep him under contract for a very cheap fee through the upcoming season, which will be his 32nd year of professional baseball.
How Much Does Markus Golden Make?
Markus Golden makes $6,500,000 per year on average. Golden will get a base salary of $1,500,000, a signing bonus of $2,160,000, and an incentive bonus of $1,000,000 in 2022. He will also have a cap hit of $4,330,000 and a dead cap value of $4,410,000.
