American actress, author, and activist Kathy Najimy is best known for her roles as the evil Grimhilde in “Descendants,” Mary Patrick’s sister in “Sister Act,” and Mary Sanderson in “Hocus Pocus.” She has an equally impressive TV acting career.
Najimy was born on February 6, 1957, in San Diego, California. She is the daughter of Lebanese-American parents Samia (née Massery; 1928-2015) and Fred Najimy, a postal worker. In 1946, her mother made the journey from Lebanon to the US.
In addition to being a well-known actor, Kathy is a well-known campaigner. She has been a vocal supporter of causes like body image, LGBT rights, AIDS awareness, equal rights, and civil rights in addition to being a part of the “Time’s Up” movement against sexual harassment.
The actress-activist has also given significantly to organizations that support women’s empowerment, such as “V-Day” and “The Feminist Majority Foundation’s” campaign against gender discrimination in Afghanistan.
She is a prominent critic of US President Donald Trump and has pledged her allegiance to the liberal Democrats in politics.
