The Seattle Mariners are an American professional baseball team based in Seattle. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) West division.

In 2001, the Mariners won 116 games, which tied the record set by the Chicago Cubs in 1906 for the most victories in a single season in the Major League. The record for most wins in a single season in the American League was set by the Mariners in 2001.

The franchise would not return to the postseason until 2022, which was the active record for the longest hiatus in any of the four major sports played in North America.

As of the year 2022, the team has ended 30 of the previous 46 seasons with a record that was below.500.

The Mariners are the only active team in Major League Baseball that has never been to the World Series, and they presently have the longest active span between World Series appearances of any active team in Major League Baseball.

Who is The Best Mariners Player of All Time?

Ken Griffey Jr has been widely recognized as the best player of the Seattle Mariners.

Griffey cemented his reputation as one of the most productive and exciting players of his period throughout the first 11 seasons of his career with the Seattle Mariners (1989–1999). During that time, he amassed 1,752 hits, 398 home runs, 1,152 RBI, and 167 stolen bases.

He finished his career with a batting average of.297, won the Most Valuable Player award for the American League in 1997, and led the American League in home runs on four separate occasions (1994, 1997, 1998, and 1999). In his very first at-bat in the major leagues, he doubled.

Both the Seattle Mariners and the Atlanta Braves expressed interest in signing Griffey when he was a free agent. After much internal debate and internal conflict, Griffey made the difficult choice on February 18, 2009 to accept a contract offer from the Mariners.
