Former Clemson wide receiver, Deon Cain is currently a free agent. Cain was initially drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round (185th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons with the colts and later joined the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad as a free agent.
Before entering the NFL as a professional player, Cain started off his career at Tampa Bay Technical High School in Tampa, Florida, and played as a quarterback for the high school football team.
He was ranked as a five-star prospect and made a verbal commitment to play college football at Clemson University under the direction of head coach Dabo Swinney.
Cain enrolled at Clemson University and played for the Clemson Tigers from 2015 to 2017.
Cain was shifted to the position of a wide receiver at Clemson. In 2015, while he was a true freshman, he participated in 13 games and recorded 34 receptions for a total of 582 yards and five touchdowns.
Due to the ban he received for failing a drug test, he was ineligible to play in the 2015 Orange Bowl as well as the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship.
After serving his sentence, Cain was eligible to play for Clemson again in 2016, and he did so in all 15 contests, including the team’s win over Alabama in the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship.
Throughout the course of the season, he finished with 38 receptions, 724 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns.
