Is Coach Wes Phillips Moving From Los Angeles Rams To Vikings?

Yes, Wes Phillips is set to join the Vikings alongside O’Connell.

According to reports, Kevin O’Connell, the Rams’ offensive coordinator, won’t be the only member of the team’s offensive coaching staff to relocate to Minnesota once Super Bowl LVI concludes.

Tight ends coach/passing game coordinator Wes Phillips is set to join O’Connell in the Vikings organization, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Phillips is likely to serve as either the offensive coordinator or the passing game coordinator on O’Connell’s first coaching staff with the NFC North squad, according to reports.

Phillips has worked with O’Connell in Los Angeles and Washington for four of the last five seasons. To help install the McVay offense in Minnesota, he’ll work closely with O’Connell to restructure the Vikings’ offense.

As tight ends coach, Phillips joined the Rams in 2019. He was promoted to passing game coordinator the following year. After five seasons as tight ends coach with Washington, he went on to teach tight ends with the Dallas Cowboys from 2007 to 2013.

The coach in charge of the Dallas Cowboys from 2007 until he was dismissed eight games into the 2010 season is Wade Phillips’ father.

The Rams will need to fill some holes on their offensive staff following the departures of O’Connell and Phillips.
