1. Shannon Sharpe
In his third season with the Broncos, Shannon Sharpe had the best year of his career, catching 53 passes for 640 yards and making his first of eight Pro Bowl appearances. Since Sharpe’s injury-shortened 1999 season, he has never caught fewer than 60 passes in a season.
2. Riley Odoms
During the 1972 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Riley Odoms in the first round (fifth overall). Odoms made 153 appearances for the team.
He has 396 receptions for 5,755 yards and 41 touchdowns during a career that lasted from 1972 to 1983. As a member of the Broncos’ first Super Bowl team and a four-time Pro Bowler, he had a tremendous impact on the team.
3. Julius Thomas
In the NFL, Thomas became one of the league’s most explosive and athletic receivers when he changed from basketball to football at Portland State University. Thomas had 109 receptions and 24 touchdowns between 2011 and 2014, but all occurred in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
4. Tony Scheffler
Scheffler had 138 receptions and 14 touchdowns in four seasons with the Broncos, nine of them came in his first two seasons. In Mike Shannahan’s rollout offense, Scheffler prospered, but he had limited success when Josh McDaniels arrived.
