The Toronto Blue Jays chose Palacios in the fourth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, and he signed for a $438,100 signing bonus
He was appointed to the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Blue Jays and showed up in 13 games prior to being elevated to the Short Season-A Vancouver Canadians.
After 28 games in Vancouver, Palacios was elevated to the Class-A Lansing Lugnuts, where he completed his 2016 mission. In 50 absolute games across three levels, Palacios batted .330 with 18 RBI.
