It was announced on June 18th that the Kansas City Royals acquired Kelvin Herrera in exchange for Gutiérrez, Blake Perkins and Yohan Morel.
As of the start of the 2019 baseball season, Gutiérrez was playing for the Class AAA Omaha Storm Chasers of the Pacific Coast League.
