Meet Rachel Luba
Rachel Luba, 28, arrived at UCLA in 2010 and immediately joined the gymnastics team for the 2011 season. She competed in the Level 10 national championships in 2009 as a Level 10 gymnast (the highest level prior to Olympic contention).
Luba had planned to compete in college at California, according to UCLA’s student publication, The Daily Bruin, but with Cal’s women’s gymnastics program on the verge of being cut, she walked on at UCLA in 2011.
She is also a sports agent who has her own firm, Luba Sports, which was founded in 2019, and she has Bauer as her client. Her firm represents a number of baseball players, including Yasiel Puig, Eric Jagers, and David Hess.
She is the league’s youngest female agent, and she told the Los Angeles Times that she wants to “see a better landscape” and “better representation” of players.
Bauer’s agent, Rachel Luba, was instrumental in securing the Cy Young winner’s estimated three-year, $102 million contract, which will make him the highest-paid player in league history in 2021 ($40 million) and 2022 ($45 million).
The contract is the latest milestone in Luba’s burgeoning career, which has seen the 28-year-old former UCLA gymnast become the youngest licensed female MLB agent and a member of Forbes’ 30 under 30 lists.
