Bickford signed with the Giants for $2,333,800 and was assigned to the AZL Giants, where he pitched to a 0-1 record and 2.01 ERA in 10 games started.
In 2016, he began the season with the Augusta GreenJackets before being promoted to the San Jose Giants in June. The Giants traded Bickford and Andrew Susac to the Milwaukee Brewers for Will Smith on August 1, 2016.

Phil was sent to the Brevard County Manatees for the remainder of the season by Milwaukee. Bickford recorded a 7-7 record with a 2.93 ERA in 23 games (22 starts) across Augusta, San Jose, and Brevard County, striking out 135 hitters in 120 combined innings.
He only tossed 17 innings for the AZL Brewers in 2017 owing to a 50-game suspension for testing positive for prohibited drugs and a fractured hand. Bickford spent 2018 and 2019 with the Carolina Mudcats of the Advanced Single-A Carolina League. He had a 4.60 ERA in 21 games in 2018 and lowered it to 2.48 ERA in 20 games in 2019.
The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed Bickford off waivers on May 3, 2021. [16] Bickford recorded his first professional save on June 10 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bickford earned his first MLB victory on July 25 against the Colorado Rockies.
In 2021, he pitched in 56 games with the Dodgers, going 4–2 with a 2.50 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 50+ innings. [15] Bickford threw in three games in each of the 2021 NLDS and NLCS, allowing four hits but no runs in six innings of work.
