Darien A. Nuez is a Cuban baseball pitcher who now pitches for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball (MLB).
In the 2009 World Youth Baseball Championship and the 2013 World Baseball Classic, Nuez pitched for the Cuban National Team.
From 2011 through 2015, Nuez pitched in the Cuban National Series, posting a 19–27 record and a 4.00 ERA.
In 2015, he requested his release in order to play professional baseball lawfully. He was regarded as one of the top three pitchers in the Cuban league at the time of his release.
On April 16, 2018, the Los Angeles Dodgers signed him as an international free agent. He played the majority of 2019 with the California League’s High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
He did not play in 2020 since the minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Luis Nuez was called up to the majors for the first time on July 8, 2021.
