Julio Urías Acosta is a Mexican born baseball pitcher who plays professionally for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB). He earns an annual salary of $1 million from the Dodgers.
Julio was born on August 12, 1996, in a town called Culiacán in Mexico. During his teens, he was part of the Mexico national youth baseball team. The Dodgers met Julio for the very first time in 2012 at a showcase in Oaxaca.
The Dodgers decided to sign him thus he was signed by the Dodgers without being drafted. A signing bonus of $450,000 was given to him most of which went to the Diablos Rojos del México of the Mexican League.
Julio was then brought t America to begin his professional career. He made his professional debut in 2013 playing for the Great Lakes Loons in the Midwest League. He was the youngest player in the league. The following year, he was part of those selected to play for the World Team at the 2014 All-Star Futures Game.
He was also named the “Minor League Pitcher of the Year” by the Dodgers in 2014. In May 2016, the Dodgers promoted him to the major leagues for the first time and he made his MLB debut that day when the Dodgers played against the New York Mets.
