William Dills Smith is a Major League Baseball catcher with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the United States (MLB). He was a member of the Louisville Cardinals during his college career.
He was drafted in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2019, he made his major league debut.
In Louisville, Kentucky, Smith went to Kentucky Country Day School. He hit.528 with 11 home runs and 36 RBIs as a senior in 2013, and he pitched to a 7–1 record with a 0.87 ERA.
He went undrafted in the 2013 Major League Baseball draft and went on to play collegiate baseball at the University of Louisville.
He was a member of the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League during the summer of 2015. He hit .382/.480/.567 in 55 games as a junior, with seven home runs and 43 RBIs.
He was taken in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers following his junior year. Smith agreed to a $1.775 million signing bonus when he joined on July 17, 2016.
