Gavin Thomas Lux (born November 23, 1997) is an American professional baseball second baseman for the Major League Baseball team, Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB).
He was drafted in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Dodgers and made his major league debut in September 2019.
He played baseball for Indian Trail High School and Academy in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and was selected in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Dodgers.
Lux was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, with the 20th overall choice. Lux received a $2.31 million signing bonus from the Dodgers. To begin his professional career, the Dodgers assigned him to the Arizona League Dodgers.
He was promoted to the Pioneer Baseball League’s Ogden Raptors at the end of the season. He appeared in 56 games at both levels, batting.296/.375/.399 with 21 RBIs.
On September 2, 2019, the Dodgers called up Lux to make his major league debut as the starting second baseman against the Colorado Rockies.
He hit on Peter Lambert’s first pitch and then doubled in his second at-bat. In the game, he also hit three home runs. Lux hit his first MLB home run against Tanner Scott of the Baltimore Orioles on September 10, 2019. He collected 18 hits in 75 at-bats (.240 average) in 23 games with the Dodgers in 2019, hitting two home runs and driving in nine runs.
