Wade was born on November 13, 1986, in Hammond, Louisiana in the United States of America. He played high school baseball at Loranger High School where he was also a student. He gained admission to attend Southeastern Louisiana University after high school. There, he played college baseball for the Southeastern Louisiana Lions baseball team.
During the 2008 MLB draft, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected him in the first round of the draft. He agreed to play for the team and signed with them. He then made his professional debut with the Yakima Bears of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League of the minor league.
The Diamondbacks promoted him to the major leagues for the first time in August 2011. He was traded to the Boston Red Sox in 2014. A year later, the Red Sox traded him to the Seattle Mariners and the Mariners also traded him in 2016 to the Baltimore Orioles.
Wade signed a minor league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2018. In 2019, the Houston Astros signed a one-year contract worth $4.5 million with him. He was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs in November 2021.
