Daniel David Norris is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Major League Baseball Chicago Cubs. He was born on April 25, 1993.
In Major League Baseball, he has played for the Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Tigers, and Milwaukee Brewers. He made his Major League Baseball debut in 2014.
On January 11, 2019, the Tigers avoided arbitration with Norris by agreeing to a one-year, $1.275 million contract. Norris concluded the season with a 3-13 record despite setting career highs in games (32), starts (29), innings (144+13), and strikeouts (125).
To keep Norris’ workload under control, the Tigers limited him to three innings each start in the latter part of the season.
Norris was selected by the Blue Jays in the second round (74th overall) of the 2011 MLB Draft. [1] Prior to the 2012 season, Baseball America ranked Norris as the 91st greatest prospect in baseball.
On July 26, 2013, when the new Top 100 Prospects list was revealed, he was listed as the number four prospect in the Blue Jays minor league system.
Norris began his professional career in 2012 with the Rookie-Advanced Bluefield Blue Jays and the Low-A Vancouver Canadians, posting a combined 2–4 record, an earned run average (ERA) of 8.44, and 1.78 walks plus hits per inning thrown (WHIP) ratio.
