Michael Rucker Career
Rucker attended Auburn Riverside High School in Auburn, Washington, where he played baseball in high school. He was 8–2 with a 1.51 earned run average as a junior in 2011 (ERA).
Rucker enrolled at Gonzaga University to play college baseball for the Bulldogs after going undrafted out of high school in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft.
He transferred to Brigham Young University (BYU) after his freshman year at Gonzaga, where he played baseball for the Cougars.
Rucker earned a position on the All-West Coast Conference First Team after posting an 11–1 record with a 2.73 ERA over 102+13 innings as a junior at BYU in 2016.
Rucker was picked in the 11th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Cubs, and he signed with them for $180,000 after his junior year.
Rucker made his professional debut with the Arizona League Cubs after signing before concluding the season with the Eugene Emeralds; in 12+23 bullpen innings worked for both teams, but he did not allow an earned run and went 3–0.
