Alfonso Rivas MLB Career
As a rookie in Class A Short Season New York–Penn League, Rivas hit .285 with one home run, 28 RBI, and 16 double in 61 games for the Vermont Lake Monsters.
Prior to being promoted to Class AAA Las Vegas Aviators in late August, he began the 2019 season with the Class A-Advanced California League’s Stockton Ports, where he was selected as an All-Star.
While playing for the two teams, he had an impressive line of .293/.387/.423 with nine home runs, sixty RBIs, and 26 doubles in 122 games
Rivas was acquired by the Chicago Cubs in a trade for Tony Kemp on January 13th, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, he was unable to play in a minor league game in 2020.
To begin the 2021 season, he was assigned to the Iowa Cubs of the Triple-A East. Due to his injuries, he was out for the duration of May and June.
Rivas’ contract was selected by the Cubs on August 28, 2021, and he was promoted to the major leagues. He was slicing when he was promoted.
In 58 games with Iowa, he hit .284/.405/.411 with four home runs, 32 RBIs, and 13 doubles. He made his MLB debut the next day, starting at first base in the Cubs’ 13-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox at Wrigley Field.
