Jonathan Villar whose full name is Jonathan Rafael Villar Roque is a baseball professional who was born on May 2, 1991. Jonathan plays the second baseman for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball. He is known to have been previously linked to the Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, Miami Marlins as well as the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Mets.

Villar began his professional career when he had first signed with the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball as a free agent. He was then traded to the Houston Astros together with two others in exchange for one Roy Oswalt. After he became part of the Houston Astros, Villar was named 94th best prospect in baseball by Baseball America before the 2011 season. He gained his promotion from hard to the major leagues on July 21, 2013.

He was then traded to the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball on November 19, 2015. He earned a place with them and became their Opening Day Shortstop. He very much gave impressive performance whiles with them and that was evident when he recorded a post. 298 batting average, with 6 home runs and a League-leading.

He then moved to the Baltimore Orioles on July 31, 2018, and gained his activation on August 2 playing his first game with the Orioles later that night. Then he was with the Miami Marlins, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the New York Mets, and finally settled at Chicago Cubs on March 19, 2022.
