Seiya Suzuki is one the professional baseball players who serve as an outfielder for the Chicago Cubs baseball team of Major League Baseball. Seiya was born and raised in Japan on August 18, 1994, in Arakawa City, Tokyo in Japan. Seiya is 1.81 m tall and weighs 83 kg.
Seiya played in the Nippon Professional Baseball for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp before he became a part of the MLB. The Hiroshima Toyo Carp selected him in the 2nd round of the 2012 NPB draft and he made his NPB debut for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp on September 14, 2013.
Seiya played in the NPB for the Carps for almost a decade before they posted him and made him available to all 30 MLB teams in November 2021. The Carps opened 30 days to negotiate a contract to trade Seiya.
The Chicago Cubs purchased his contract and signed a five-year contract worth $85 million with him in March 2022. He was invited to the 2022 Spring Training and he made his Cubs debut on April 7, 2022. The Cubs awarded him the National League Player of the Week award on April 11, 2022.
