José Alvarez, full name José Ricardo Álvarez, is a professional baseball player from Venezuela who is known to play the position of a pitcher for the San Francisco Giants baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB). José has a height of 1.80m with a weight of 82 kg. He has been with the Giants since March 2021.
José was signed into the Boston Red Sox team as an international free agent in July 2005. After he signed with the Red Sox, he was assigned to play with the DSL Red Sox of the Dominican Summer League to kick off his professional career.
He was with the Sox till November 2009, when they traded him to the Florida Marlins baseball team where he played in the Class A South Atlantic League during the 2010 season. The Marlins let him go after the 2012 baseball season.
The Detroit Tigers then signed him as a minor league free agent in November that year. He made his MLB debut in June 2013 for the Detroits after he was called up to the major leagues for the very first time. He was traded on March 21, 2014, to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim where he stayed till 2018 when he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies.
In March 2021, José signed a one-year contract worth $1.15 million with the San Francisco Giants with a $1.5 million club option for the 2022 baseball season.
